“I want to help you live your life in the most authentic and rewarding way possible”
There are many reasons people seek out therapy. Whether you are seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, wanting to create change in your life and relationships, or just needing support during a difficult life transition I am here to provide empathy, support, and guidance. Finding a therapist you feel safe and comfortable with is an important part of successful therapy. As a therapist I believe in the power of relationship and value the importance of knowing not only your goals for therapy but also knowing you as a person. I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, and warm environment so you can feel empowered to explore the deeper aspects of yourself and recognize your inner strength to own and tell your story. I am an energetic, nature-loving, and laid back individual who appreciates honesty, clear communication, and humor.
I provide therapy services for children, families, and individuals. Although the makeup of therapy looks different for every individual my basic approach always includes a focus on identifying and developing your strengths and resources to address the problem at hand and keeping you in the "driver seat" through your journey. I utilize a variety of techniques and approaches depending on your own goals, personality, and comfort. Some of these techniques include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), narrative and experiential (Gestalt) work, and nature-based theories. I place a strong emphasis on the connection of mind-body-spirit, addressing negative or dysfunctional core beliefs that often lead to behaviors that cause damage in our lives, and cultivating self-love and compassion.
When working with children and families the focus is often on building stronger self-esteem, building internal and external resources to cope with stress, cultivating positive emotional expression, teaching positive communication and conflict resolution skills, and addressing the impacts of negative experiences and trauma. Family members and other significant people in the child's life are often welcome and incorporated into this process.
Adolescents and young adults can expect a straight-forward, honest approach that encourages self-efficacy and healthy exploration of one's identity and impact in the world. I utilize a mix of play therapy, sand tray therapy, narrative therapy, and EMDR protocols designed for children.
I believe in people's ability to change, in the importance of connection, and the power of owning one's story. I want to help you live life in the most authentic and rewarding way possible. Thank you for taking the time to learn about my practice. I hope this helps you feel confident to take the next step in healing and I look forward to meeting you.
