“I use a collaborative approach where we work together to identify your existing strengths and resources..."

As a mental health therapist, one of my foundational beliefs is that, as humans, we all long to be understood and to be accepted. We long to be able to express our deepest and truest selves and have those selves be celebrated by the people around us, our community. In my practice, I strive to create a safe space for the individuals I work with to be able to explore their life experiences and what that experience has taught them about themselves. In therapy, we examine the “life lessons” you have internalized from culture and society as well as family and peers, and we process how those core beliefs have affected your ability to live your life to the fullest.

Individual Counseling

I offer individual therapy services for children and adults, as well as family sessions when needed. I use a collaborative approach where we work together to identify your existing strengths and resources and then build on those as we work through the issues that are currently causing you distress. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and I love to use mindfulness and other somatic or narrative techniques from a variety of modalities to help you integrate what you are learning about yourself. I believe the therapeutic relationship is an essential part of this process because healing and transformation can only happen in an environment of honesty and trust. I also believe human beings are oriented towards wholeness and healing the way sunflowers turn towards the light. Sometimes all we need is someone who can travel with us for a little way on our journey until we feel confident that we can continue on our own.
