"My therapeutic approach is warm, empathetic, and strengths-based..."
Hello! I am excited that you are considering giving yourself the gift of therapy. As your therapist, my goal is to help facilitate your healing, growth, and re-connection to your authentic self. I strive to create a warm, empathetic, and strengths-based therapeutic environment; a safe place to get honest and vulnerable with your thoughts, feelings, challenges, and needs while you learn to more skillfully navigate your life. With over twenty years of full-time experience in the mental health field and an additional decade of experience with crisis intervention, I have an ever-expanding toolkit to help you reach your goals. I enjoy learning about our fascinating human psychology and new techniques to heal and thrive. I regularly share podcasts, articles, books, movies, and videos with my clients. My approach is trauma-informed and collaborative, We’ll find growth opportunities in whatever you’re dealing with, and we’re going to laugh more than you expect. We'll work together to determine which techniques best address your therapeutic goals to empower you to move through difficult situations and develop the insight and skills needed for positive change, healing, and growth.
I offer individual therapy for adults 18+, focusing on experiences of life transitions, toxic stress, loss and grief, medical challenges and complex illness (especially cancer), trauma, PTSD and complex PTSD, depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. I utilize a variety of techniques, such as Supportive Psychotherapy, EMDR, HeartMath, Mindful Self Compassion, mindfulness, meditation, and somatic approaches. My work is strongly informed by Polyvagal Theory, and I enjoy sharing information about how the design of our mammal bodies and nervous systems inform our mental health and behavior.
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Washington State. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with a Mental Health Concentration from the University of Southern California in 2002. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and English Literature from Western Washington University (1995). I am an EMDR Certified Therapist and a HeartMath Certified Provider.
