“I am a firm believer in nourishing the mind/body connection...”
My passion for massage therapy started many years ago when therapeutic massage was the only modality that successfully treated and eliminated a very painful bout with sciatica. The care, guidance, and compassion of the therapist inspired me to pursue a massage therapy license so that my lifelong desire to help people relieve pain, stress, and promote overall health and well-being could be realized with more natural, “hands-on” methods.
I have a 20+ year background of working in the holistic and healthcare industry, worked as a massage therapist in a chiropractic office, and managed my own private practice. These experiences have provided a variety of insights into health and wellness that have shaped how I approach massage. I have witnessed firsthand how, when given the opportunity and a gentle nudge in the right direction, your body will work towards healing itself. I am a firm believer in nourishing the mind/body connection to help maintain homeostasis in the body and assist in the healing process.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Nashua Community College Massage Therapy Program in New Hampshire, am licensed by the state of WA (License # MA60766216) nationally certified through the NCBTMB, completed my Advanced Reiki II training with The John Harvey Gray Center for Reiki Healing under the tutelage of Lourdes Gray, and am an insured member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP).
My specialties include heated Bamboo Fusion™ Massage and AromaTouch Essential Oil Technique. I am a Reiki practitioner and have also trained at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur CA for an intensive workshop in The Art of Essential Touch.
It is my hope that you will leave your session feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and with an appreciation of the benefits that massage therapy and AromaTouch can provide to keep you well-balanced and healthy.
Bamboo fusion incorporates heated bamboo sticks of varying sizes and lengths inducing a deep degree of relaxation, while also providing the opportunity for the therapist to massage deeper into the layer of tissue and muscle. The heat from the bamboo “softens” the layers of tissue, preparing it to accept a deeper massage without the discomfort that often comes with a deep tissue massage. This massage is both therapeutic and wonderfully luxurious. Certain conditions (including pregnancy) are contraindicated for this massage, so please be sure to speak with the therapist prior to booking.
The modalities used will vary from Swedish, Neuromuscular Therapy, and Trigger Point with appropriate light to medium strokes, and/or deep pressure points. Client preferences for pressure/depth are always respected and honored, so please be sure to communicate any preferences prior to, and during, your massage. The combination of modalities and pressure allows the therapist to appropriately address each muscle group with what it needs depending on the issues discovered during the massage. The intent is to give an overall feeling of relaxation and bring balance and relief to those areas experiencing discomfort.
The AromaTouch technique is an essential oil application applied to the back and the feet to create a feeling of overall balance and wellness. We exclusively use dōTERRA essential oils because “dōTERRA essential oils are gently and carefully distilled from plants that have been patiently harvested at the perfect moment by experienced growers from around the world for ideal extract composition and efficacy. Each dōTERRA essential oil is also carefully and thoroughly tested using the strict CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® quality protocol.”. There are 8 essential oils used during the treatment. They are, in order: dōTERRA Balance®, Lavender, Melaleuca, dōTERRA On Guard®, AromaTouch®, Deep Blue® Wild Orange, and Peppermint. AromaTouch usually takes an hour to perform. Substituting an oil in the AromaTouch could cause an alteration in the aroma that is created when the eight oils are used. Instead, the therapist would completely omit the oil that the recipient is sensitive to and continue with the AromaTouch as if the oil had still been applied. Below is a description of the oils and blends that are used so that you can let the therapist know if you have a sensitivity to any of the ingredients prior to your session
dōTERRA Balance® (Spruce, Rosewood, Frankincense, and Blue Tansy)
dōTERRA Balance® essential oil blend creates a sense of calmness and well-being. Starting the AromaTouch with this oil creates a great initial bond between the giver and the receiver.
Lavender essential oil has been cherished for its unmistakable aroma and calming properties for thousands of years. Due to its soothing nature, it is used in the AromaTouch to promote relaxation.
More commonly called “tea tree,” Melaleuca has 90 different compounds and limitless applications. Melaleuca is an essential part of the AromaTouch Technique for its cleansing effects.
dōTERRA On Guard® (Wild Orange, Clove Bud, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary)
dōTERRA On Guard® offers fragrant and effective cleansing properties. Because of these properties, it is used in the AromaTouch Technique.
AromaTouch® (Basil, Grapefruit, Cypress, Marjoram, Peppermint, and Lavender)
AromaTouch® essential oil blend combines the benefits of oils well known for calming and relaxing effects. The AromaTouch Blend is used in the AromaTouch Technique because of its soothing sensation.
Deep Blue® (Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Blue Tansy, German Chamomile, Helichrysm, and Osmanthus)
Deep Blue® essential oil blend has an immediate tingling and warming effect. Because of this and its aromatic properties, it was chosen to be a part of the AromaTouch Technique.
Cold pressed from the peel, Wild Orange essential oil releases an energizing, citrusy aroma. We use Wild Orange in the AromaTouch Technique because of its ability to energize and revitalize.
Peppermint, a well-loved oil, provides a myriad of health benefits. Peppermint essential oil is used in the AromaTouch Technique for its invigorating and energy-promoting qualities.
“Reiki is a Japanese word for “Universal Life Energy”. It is a word used for both the healing energy itself, and for the method for using the energy. A natural healing energy, Reiki can be found anywhere on Earth.
Reiki differs from other forms of energy healing in that practitioners do not use their own personal energy during the healing process. The healing energy flows through the hands of a practitioner and into the self, another person, animal or plant being treated, enhancing and accelerating the natural healing processes in the body. The energy helps restore balance and harmony for both the self and for others. It promotes the relaxation response. As it flows, the energy interacts with the cells of living organisms, i.e., the cells in humans, animals and plants, to balance and harmonize their functions. It supports the natural healing processes in all living organisms, i.e., physical emotional, mental and spiritual. Many hospitals, nursing homes and wellness centers offer these healing sessions to their patients.”
Reiki is done while the client, fully clothed, rests on the massage table. It is recommended that shoes, glasses, wallet, and keys be removed for comfort during the session.
